Is Nicola now on the wrong side of history?
A generational change is disrupting the independence movement.
The new SNP Westminster, Stephen Flynn, following his palace coup against old school trusty, Ian Blackford. A wave of resignations by the SNP old guard has rocked the party. Flynn, 34 and his deputy, Mhairi Black, 28, are not prepared to continue playing the Westminster game. Independence is a youthful movement. 70% of Scots under 34 years of age would support Yes in a repeat referendum. They want action. But the new guard may find that it is not so easy to beat the Westminster system in the way that Charles Stuart Parnell did in the cause of Irish Home Rule over a century ago.
