What is Humza thinking?
As we await next week’s statement from the First Minister, the nationalist left thinks its time has come again
Scottish politics is in a very strange place following the arrest of the SNP Chief Executive, Peter Murrell, husband of the former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon. There is almost nothing we can say about this extraordinary state of affairs without risking imprisonment for contempt of court. In today’s Scotland, independent journalist face the very real threat of imprisonment, see previous posts, even for stating factual information in the wrong way.
So, since I can’t write about the biggest story in Scotland, in decades. I thought I would look at the next big story: First Minister, Humza Yousaf’s red-green “progressive agenda”. He’ll be spelling out his vision in a speech to parliament on 18th April. It’s no use looking for guidance in what he said during the leadership campaign. It was hopelessly vague when it wasn’t self-contradictory. But we know that he has committed to realising the dreams of the left-wing activists who dominate thinking in the independence movement. So if we want to know what Humza is thinking we need to know what they are thinking.
